Good Thursday Morning.
It’s the first day of October.
Weather turning cold too fast
Far, far too fast. If you’re already missing the warmth and sunshine, check out poolside.fm. It’s a free internet radio service that plays retro-themed summertime music on constant loop and calls itself the “sunniest place on the internet”.
This may sound like an ad, but it’s not. I just miss the summer, and I imagine some folks out there in the Tinaverse do too. Cheers to endless summer.
We had a lot of questions yesterday, so thanks for sticking with us. And thanks for all your great comments. Keep them coming, as always. We’ve got some more questions today too (but not as many!), so click the Let’s Talk button when you’re ready to get started.
33 days until Election Day.

Question 1: For which Presidential ticket do you plan to vote this November?
Jorgensen / Cohen (Libertarian), Carroll / Patel (American Solidarity), Hawkins / Walker (Green) and “I’m not going to vote” all registered as well.
Question 2: Who do you believe won the first Presidential debate?
Trump / Pence
Biden / Harris
Undecided voters thought it was a tie (86%) or didn’t watch (14%), while Third Party were evenly split between thinking it was a tie, not watching or giving the win to Biden.
America lost in the debate last night. A President who cannot listen to over half his constituents tarnishes America's reputation as being for the people. Why would the world look up to us now?
that debate was a joke. to be honest both candidates came out looking pretty terrible in my opinion & chris wallace was in way over his head (granted they were both acting like first graders) Trump’s rant at the end was particularly concerning. he basically said that if he loses he is going to declare that it was a fraudulent election. he is the single greatest threat to democracy curious what people think about potentially muting a candidate’s microphone during a debate when it is not their turn to speak (we can call it the Trump rule)
Joe Biden doesn’t look informed up there. Bad look for someone with 47 years of experience to fall back on politicking
Question 3: What describes your biggest motivation for watching the debate last night?
The key takeaway from this question’s results may be that there is always something else on TV.
Trump / Pence
Biden / Harris
Undecided voters mostly said entertainment (67%), though some were interested in learning about the major candidates (33%). Third Party voters were split evenly between those two reasons.
My motivation for watching the debate didn’t align with the options given, but was just to be an engaged citizen.
Honestly shocked at how many friends of mine watched the debate. I had an organizing meeting last night right before and the person running it signed off with “self -care, if you think it will make you sad, don’t watch it and don’t feel bad for not watching it” I think that’s advice everyone should hear.
Question 4: When asked by moderate Chris Wallace of Fox News to condemn white supremacy groups like the Proud Boys, President Trump responded, “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.” Do you believe this was a condemnation?
Trump / Pence
Biden / Harris
Undecided voters were split evenly between “no” and “I’m not sure”, while Third Party voters said “no” unanimously.
Re: Proud Boys question. Two things: 1) Trump's immediate response to Wallace was "yes, sure" when asked if he would condemn white supremacist groups but everyone seems to ignore that part; and 2) Is Proud Boys a white supremacist group?
Anyone who thinks Trump did condemn white supremacy with his comment to the Proud Boys to “... stand by” is delusional.
I don't like the Proud Boys question. Wallace asked Trump if he would denounce white supremacist groups. Trump said he did, and then when Trump said to specifically name who, BIDEN named Proud Boys. Trump responded with Proud Boys bc Biden specifically brought them up. This question and social media make it sound like Trump randomly picked Proud Boys and made a call of action. It's out of context and misleading.
It seems like gaslighting to ask if *we thought* Trump was condemning white supremacists, when he did not answer that question and instead told a white supremacist group to “to take a few steps backwards; to be or to get ready to act” as Merriam-Webster defined his words.
Question 5: At one point last night, Former Vice President Biden said of Antifa: “It’s an idea, not an organization.” Do you agree or disagree?
Trump / Pence
Biden / Harris
Undecided voters largely disagreed (83%) or weren’t sure (17%). Third Party were in the same place, though with a slightly different split (75% disagree, 25% not sure).
Question 6: On a scale of 1 (the worst) to 5 (the best), how would you rate the job Chris Wallace did as moderator?
Trump voters gave him a 2.6.
Biden voters gave him a 2.5.
Undecided and Third Party voters both gave him a 2.3.
Chris Wallace deserves a raise and a stiff drink.
Chris Wallace is a crap moderator. The candidates talked over him, interrupted, and generally had no regard for him when he spoke. His presence added absolutely no value and he did everything but moderate that debate. How embarrassing.
Can you really blame Chris Wallace for Trump's unruliness? No one can get a handle on the guy, not even his own WH staff.
Question 7: Do you think you’ll watch the next two Presidential debates or the Vice Presidential debate?
After the disgusting display off behavior at the first debate, do we really need additional debates?
I watched the debates in hopes it would be a discussion about their respective policies. All I heard were three men talking at the same time about, seemingly, nothing but their own ego. Chris Wallace did they best he could - without a mute button how can anyone stop an ego from talking? It was a joke. It was disheartening. I am looking forward to the VP debates... I believe both of them are more civilized.
Question 8: NBA Finals kick off. Who ya got?
LAL in 7
I hope the Heat win, but I am not confident. I don't want to see the Lakers buy another championship. To be fair, that's exactly what my Celtics did in 2008.....
Lakers in 5 as LeBron goes off and proves why he is the best player on the planet. Period. And he's an all-time great American story, where he came from and what he has done on and off the basketball court and how much he has tried to make the world a better place.
Preach.
