April 20, 2020.
Hey all you cool cats and kittens. Like many of you, I’ve spent part of this quarantine watching “Tiger King” on Netflix. About 10 minutes into the first episode, I realized that I actually visited Carole Baskin’s Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida back in 2010. Does this mean I’ve chosen a side in her feud with Joe Exotic? Does this mean I’m complicit in the disappearance of Carole’s husband? Actually, don’t answer any of that.
Happy Monday. Thank you so much to all of you who responded to our first list of questions on Friday. The response rate was fantastic, your question suggestions were amazing (more on that below) and your likes, shares, love and support have got me feeling all the feels. I’m so grateful.
Click on the “Let’s Talk” button to get started on today’s questions, and then keep scrolling down to check out the results from Friday’s questions.
Results for April 17, 2020
We’ve also got our results from Friday’s questions! Thanks again for your participation and feedback. The average completion time was just under 3 minutes, so hopefully you found the experience easy and straight-forward.
I *loved* all of your question suggestions too. Keep them coming! And keep an eye out for your suggested questions in future sets. I’ll try to include as many as I can. If you’re willing to provide your opinions and views to Tina, the least I can do is help you get your burning questions answered.
Which brings me to the best suggestion I got from one of our anonymous participants: “I like answering questions, not thinking of questions to ask. That’s your job.”
Well played, friend. Well played.
Question 1: On a scale of 0 (the worst) to 10 (the best), how are you feeling overall?
The average response was 6.5.
It seems like we’re doing okay, but of course, we could be doing better. A few other insights:
51% of you answered 6 or 7
23% answered 8, 9 or 10
23% answered either 4 or 5
2% answered 3
1% answered 2
Thankfully, nobody answered 0 or 1
Hang in there, folks. We’ll check in next week and see if and how this number changes. And if you’re on the lower end of the range and ever want to talk, reach out. You’ve got a friend who’s grateful for you and your input and participation.
Question 2: What are you wearing when you go out in public?
An overwhelming majority (88%) of respondents are following the CDC’s guidance and wearing masks.
56% of respondents say they wear a mask, but no gloves
32% say they wear a mask and gloves
11% were wondering “what CDC guidance?”
1% wear gloves but no mask
Question 3: How do you refer to the virus?
Coronavirus (70%) slightly edges out COVID-19 (65%), though both are clearly the commonly used terms by our participants. I believe news outlets and government officials used Coronavirus prior to using COVID-19, so that may explain it.
Or, COVID is just harder to use for memes and gifs.
8% answered something else, 2% answered Chinese virus, 1% answered “the invisible enemy” and nobody answered Wuhan virus.
Here in New Jersey, we often just refer to it as [ hand gestures ] “all of this”.
Question 4: Do you approve or disapprove of the job President Donald J. Trump is handling the response to the COVID-19 outbreak?
Not a lot of love for President Trump amongst our participants. We’ll see how this changes over time, and, based on some great user feedback, we’ll compare his approvals to approval ratings for other public officials in the days ahead.
56% strongly disapprove
18% somewhat disapprove
17% somewhat approve
8% strongly approve
1% no opinion
Question 5: Do you believe professional wrestling is an essential service?
91% of you said “Of course not.”
7% said you weren’t sure.
2% said “Of course.”
In other words, 2% can (and 91% cannot) smell What The Rock is Cooking. I don’t know about the other 7%.
P.S. For those of you not familiar with the Mamas & the Papas, here’s the song today’s title is referencing.
