Good Thursday Morning.
Yesterday, the CEOs of four major tech companies — Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Sundar Pichai (Google) and Tim Cook (Apple) — testified virtually before the House Judiciary Committee’s antitrust subcommittee. At question: are technology companies too big, too powerful and anticompetitive? We want to know what you think.
Then, this morning, the President tweeted:
Of course, Congress holds the power to schedule elections, and President Trump’s term ends on January 20, 2021 regardless of when the Presidential Election is held. Still, we want to know what you think.
Finally, we’ll end with a user-suggested question about ice cream because we all scream for ice cream. Click on the Let’s Talk button to get started.

Question 1: Do you think the US Senate should or should not confirm Judy Shelton's nomination to the Federal Reserve Board?
Judy Shelton would be another classic example of Trump giving a prominent critic of a given institution (in this case, The Fed) at least partial power to run that institution. Can we PLEASE stop empowering Libertarians? They'd literally set the world on fire if it meant they didn't have to pay taxes.
I’m not sure exactly why, but since reading this comment, I’ve had Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” — particularly the line “…But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die” — stuck in my head.
Question 2: Do you wear masks when you're around family and friends with whom you don't live?
Regarding masks around family and friends, we generally don’t wear them but we are only socializing outdoors and are keeping physically distant. Mainly, we are having a meal outside or swimming.
I’m still confused about wearing masks outside! If we’re outside and six feet apart, do we not need one? Should I be wearing one anyway?
I’d say it can’t hurt, but, according to Rep. Louie Gohmert, who recently tested positive for COVID, maybe it can.
Question 3: How, if at all, has the coronavirus pandemic changed your view of humanity?
For the COVID question, "it's complicated". I actually think the way we have pulled together as nations, communities and the human race to fight against this pandemic has been remarkable, and really heartwarming at times. The disgusting politicization of the issue here in the US, though, has reduced my faith in humanity significantly.
Q3: My view is complicated. I look at other countries (I have family across Europe, Australia, and in Canada) and I think, "wow, they really stick together and do what is necessary for their community as a whole!" Then I look at the US, and I'm like... "Did we collectively get more selfish and stupid as a country? Is the president seriously touting this doctor who believes that sex with demons causes cysts and alien dna is being used in our treatments as an expert!? What the actual flying F*** is happening!?" So, needless to say, I have gained a greater appreciation for the humanity of people in other developed nations, and I am very quickly losing any hope for decency in ours.
Covid hasn’t changed my views on humanity in general but it has definitely made me rethink the “average American’s” values and morals.
Like everything in this deeply fractured and individualistic country, the pandemic has become heavily politicized. I'm grateful that, at least in my area, people seem to be taking it seriously. For those who aren't, I guess I'd sum up my thoughts by saying, "I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."
Question 4: Have you mysteriously received any seeds in the mail?
While some Americans have reported receiving mysterious packets of seeds in the mail, the seeds haven’t made their way to the Tinaverse… Yet.
