A state commission has selected the "Magnolia Flag" to be the next state flag of Mississippi. Voters will decide this November whether to approve it or restart the process. We wanted to hear from members of the Tinaverse with ties to the Magnolia State.
We have just one former Mississippi resident in the Tinaverse, and that person voted to restart the process.
Question 1: For which Presidential ticket do you plan to vote this November?
Carroll / Patel, Hawkins / Walker and Jorgensen / Cohen all received votes, as did “I’m not going to vote”.
Question 2: On a scale of 1 (not confident at all) to 5 (very confident), how confident are you that the 2020 Election will be a free and fair election?
Trump / Pence
That’s an average of 2.5.
Biden / Harris
That’s an average of 2.8.
Undecideds / Third Party Voters
That’s an average of 3.3.
I think voter fraud is a very real threat. I’ll be even more concerned if the election isn’t called on election night. Delay of the results would be like setting off a powder keg for unrest.
I am worried about the election not being free and fair not because of the new and imaginary danger of mail in voting, but because of evergreen voter suppression, gerrymandering, and the electoral college.
Our President had a very convoluted statement the other day in which he said voters should vote by mail but also go in on Election Day to vote to make sure their vote was counted. I searched for the actual quote to make sure this assessment was fair. Double voting is a felony, yet the president is the one encouraging this and constantly tweeting "rigged election?". Confidence in elections is very important to a functioning democracy; this is highly concerning. I'm a swing voter and often have a purple ticket, but at this point my vote for Biden/Harris is a vote to conserve our democracy.
Question 3: Which of the following do you believe best describes the QAnon theory?
Trump / Pence
Biden / Harris
Undecideds / Third Party Voters
I don’t subscribe to the Qanon theories because they are obviously biased. It’s just the Alt-right claiming all their enemies are pedophiles. I do think that many extremely rich and powerful people have ties to child sex rings though. Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Prince Andrew and many more.
... before you ask if Antifa should be designated a domestic terror organization, you should probably clarify that there is no actual designation for domestic terror organizations or a corresponding statute. Terror organizations are designated under State Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) list and as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT). No such corollary exists for domestic organizations. Since you're mentioning QAnon-worth clarifying the misinformation!
Question 4: Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have started banning pages and groups related to QAnon. Do you think social media platforms should ban those pages and groups?
Trump / Pence
Biden / Harris
Undecideds / Third Party Voters
Social media platforms have always been liberal-leaning, and continue to head farther in that direction. Who gets to decide what gets banned on social media and what doesn't? Where does the line get drawn. I understand these platforms belong to companies, but it still does not feel okay to have random social media people decide what citizens can and cannot say. With how powerful these sites are, banning free speech is dangerous (but something they already do, and more to conservative views).
Facebook and Twitter should be able to ban whoever they want. They are private businesses!
They should be able to, but should they?
Ughhhh QAnon 🤦♀️ Banning them is such an issue because if you ban them they’re convinced whatever platform is just “in on it”. My sister and I are considering making our own page titled “things the government doesn’t want you to know” with actual facts about big fossil fuels and racist policies. Just need the scary music and official looking people, anyone wanna help?
I’m not entirely sure why, but for some reason, this comment gave off strong “The first rule of Fight Club is you don’t talk about Fight Club” energy.
As decisive and downright weird as the QANON is theory is, we can’t hamper someone’s freedom to wear an aluminum hat and spew filth all over the internet. Freedom of speech is sacred American right and although it pains me, must be defended. Someone who spams their Facebook followers with cat photos has the same rights as someone who rants on a cabal of Satan worshiping pedophiles. I feel gross saying that, I’m now going to shower.
Nothing, except pornography or violence should be banned from social media. We should be able to sort through posts as individuals. I don’t need someone to decide what I can and can not see.
